Thank you for visiting our Website When you hear the melodic strains of bagpipes wafting across the Iowa landscape, you know the MacKenzie Highlanders Pipes and Drums are nearby. The MacKenzie Highlanders are a post-WW II Scottish paramilitary pipe and drum band modeled after the legendary MacKenzie and Seaforth Highlanders. In formal settings, members sport doublets and feather bonnets, while in less formal settings, WW II-era duty shirts and Tam O'Shanter hats dominate. During each and every performance, Scottish military discipline, drill and ceremony are strictly observed. Composed of Central Iowans from all walks of life, this group continues the rich tradition, color and pageantry of Scotland's military pipe bands. The mission of the MacKenzie Highlanders Pipes & Drums is to provide colorful and fitting highland music that pays tribute and honors our active United States military personnel, veterans and public safety employees. Our objectives are to preserve, teach and propagate these traditional Highland arts to new generations of American citizens in a nurturing and enjoyable learning environment that promotes camaraderie and friendship. |
